PROJECT TITLE
"Small Town America" Student Success Program

PROJECT DESCRIPTION
This program will examine transitional issues faced by rural students, specifically from southeastern New Mexico,
and serve as a blueprint for the development of programs designed to minimize barriers and increase support for
rural students and their families as they make the transition to higher education

ORGANIZATION BACKGROUND
The New Mexico Poison and Drug Information Center has been a statewide public service program of the
University of New Mexico College of Pharmacy since 1977 and is certified as a Regional Poison Center by the
American Association of Poison Control Centers. The Center provides twenty-four hour emergency telephone
service for the general public and healthcare professionals, including first responders, to reduce the incidence of
unintentional poisoning, minimize inappropriate home therapy, and reduce the incidence of unnecessary health
care system utilization and expenditures.
