Mackenzie chose Texas Tech University for its Early Childhood Department that allows for hands on interaction with the children and their teachers. She is currently on the Dean’s and President’s List and is active in the Association for Childhood Education, Phi Upsilon Omicron, and Sigma Alpha Lambda.
Her future goals include pursuing a master’s degree and teaching kindergarten or first grade in Colorado or California. People who have made a difference in her life include her first grade teacher Mrs. Foster who made an impact at an early age and Mrs. Ziegner, a college professor who has enriched her education by providing guidance in real life experiences that might happen outside the classroom.
Attending Texas Tech University has taught Mackenzie to be responsible as an adult and becoming independent on important lessons in life. College has helped her overcome challenges that may arise, learning to handle stress under pressure, and working with peers in a group setting.
The Chase scholarship and The Chase Foundation has been a big part in her education allowing her the opportunity to be debt free after her education and it has instilled a strong work ethic to maintain a high grade point average throughout her college years.
