Employees part of the family at Mack Energy

Mack & Marilyn ChaseWhen  Stacye  Sanders  and her fellow employees at Mack Energy learned about the “Best
Company To Work For”  category in the “Artesia’s  Best contest,” they sprung into action.

Sanders and her co-workers sent e-mail messages to everyone in the company, reminding
them to get online and vote for the company. Sanders said one of her coworkers even added a
link to the Daily Press’ website so that  mployees could go right to the online voting page.

“It was like we’ve got to make sure we win this,” Sanders said on Thursday. “It was important for us to show (Mack, Robert and Richard Chase) just how much working here means to us all. We wanted to show them how much appreciate them.”

After nearly 18 years working in the land  department,  Sanders said it was the least she and her fellow Mack employees could do.

“This is like my family out here — my extended family,”  she said. “We work, but we
really enjoy being out here every day together.”

Mack Energy topped second-place Penasco Valley Telecommunications in the first-ever Artesia’s Best contest, and also came out ahead
of finalists Marbob Energy, Yates Petroleum and George Gandy Insurance.

Mack C. Chase founded Mack Energy in 1992 as an independent energy company engaged in oil and gas exploration, development and production in southeastern New Mexico. Based out of Artesia, Mack also has offices in Roswell, Midland and Fort Worth.

Mack and his sons, Robert and Richard, also own Chase Farms, with operations in New
Mexico, Texas, Arizona and Wyoming. And, over the years, Mack has expanded his operations to  include,  charter air service, insurance, oil field supplies, restaurant, healthcare and automotive industries.

In all, Mack Energy and its affiliates employ more than 900 people, and Chase is a major contributor to not only his employees and their families, but also to the residents of cities that  the corporation operates within.

Through the years, Mack Chase has been recognized for his generosity in supporting many  worthwhile projects, including receiving the Artesia Public Schools Lifetime Achievement Award  for his support and generosity to the school district. Each year, he personally selects two high  school seniors to be the recipient of a $20,000 scholarship based on academic and athletic achievement.

Through his Chase Foundation, Chase struck a deal with AHS graduates from the Class of 2007, committing over $1.5 million dollars over a four-year period to help send members of the class to college. His goal through the program  was  to  have  135Artesians graduate from college and become future leaders.

Since 2007, Mack has alsofunded the AHS classes of 2008, 2009 and 2010, committing an additional $5.1 milliondollars over a four-year period for the scholarships. It’s no wonder that his employees have so much gratitude toward Chase, as Sanders said that the owner and his son treat each employee as if they were family.

“I’ve had a sick kid the last few days and they were just like, ‘stay home and get him well,’” she said. “We make a great wage, have great facilities and technology to do our jobs with, have wonderful (health) insurance. … It’s a wonderful place to work.”

Mack  Energy is currently underway in the construction of a new 60,000-square-foot office complex in Riverside. The new complex is set to open in August 2011, and will accommodate the growth and expansion at Mack Energy for years to come.
